Words on Effective Altruism

Effective altruism is about using evidence and reason to figure out how to benefit others as much as possible, and taking action on that basis in order to best serve the most people.

The cost/benefit analysis is applied to any good act.  It takes into account both quantitative and qualitative factors for analysis of the value for money for a particular project, service, or investment opportunity and its associated potential environmental aspects.

Perhaps you have heard the phrase, “A big bang for your buck.” The “buck” refers to currency or altruistic act, while the “big bang” would refer to a positive outcome.  A positive outcome can be measured. What effective altruism seeks to do is maximize positive outcome for the most people in a significant and sustainable way.   Perhaps, it should also be said “Most good for the most people for the most time”

Effective Altruism is associated with empathy.  What must follow is compassion, which motivates one change from saying “One should” to saying “One must.”

There aren’t standard operating protocols to solve world problems.  There are guidelines, maps, and lists.  E.a.r.t.h. is evolving, researching the concurrent data from agencies that monitor world problems and solutions.  There are some of the world’s biggest and urgent problems that people are aware of and yet not enough focused attention is given to it.

Our focus is on the neglected and solvable big and urgent problems. Our acts will range from promoting the idea of effective altruism, promoting target solutions, contributing currency, products or services toward mostly the neglected and solvable.
